8-Week Spiritual Formation

It's the bestselling book of all time. It's been translated into more than 2300 languages and is the foundation of faith to millions. In many homes an heirloom copy is prominently displayed as a centerpiece to a bookcase or table. Despite all that, if pressed, many of us would shyly admit we rarely peek inside — and that peek may be only to check a notable family date from the middle pages rather than meditate on the text.

Why is the Bible so important to us yet reading it is considered such a chore?

"Entering the Old Testament" is an accessible overview of the Old Testament: an eight-week survey of 40 short readings from Genesis to the latter prophets. The intent is to give the big picture through half-page daily readings combined with a weekly group meeting that includes formational reading experiences and discussion. In both approach and content, this study is something different. Through less traditional, more interactive approaches, you'll learn to respond to chosen passages by asking, "What is God saying to me?" Although it's wonderful to be well versed in the Bible, it's more important to experience scripture and let it master you. This series will help you do that.

If you would like to meet God in Scripture in a unique way, this small group is for you. Beginning September 8, Pastor Rhoda will lead the group in the Fireside Room. Cost per participant workbook is $10.
