The Lent season is a 40- day period of prayer and fasting leading up to Easter. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on the Thursday before Easter Sunday. This year, Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent will be on Wednesday, March 5.
Participants of the Thursday Afternoon Bible Study, led by Pastor Sylvester, will be reading “The Way: Walking in the Footsteps of Jesus” by Adam Hamilton.
Throughout the 6-week study, we will learn about the life and teachings of Jesus through his travels to The Jordan River, where Jesus likely was baptized, to the Judean wilderness, where he was tempted. Then to the ruins of Capernaum, where Jesus made his home during his 3 years in public ministry. We climb the mountain, where Jesus may have given his most famous sermon. We then travel to the Sea of Galilee and Samaria. In the final chapter, we recall the last week of Jesus’ life in Jerusalem. “This journey, walking in the footsteps of Jesus, will deepen your understanding of Jesus’ life, while at the same time deepen your faith in him and your love for him.” Adam Hamilton Books are available through Cokesbury or Christianbook.com.
